I offer consultation based on the principles and strategies described in Unlock Your Creative Genius.
Consultation begins with your completing an inventory that can help
assess your individual needs and concerns. The focus will be on helping
you gain insights and develop skills to increase your creative freedom.
Specifically, we collaboratively work to help you effectively manage
and overcome the tension that arises during moments of creative
challenge. Through a structured approach that includes discussion,
suggested exercises practiced between sessions, self-monitoring and
feedback, you will identify those strategies that can best address and
reduce the impact of your "inhibiting themes".
The insights and
skills you learn apply to working creatively with any medium and in any
setting. Similarly, they will promote your creative
engagement whether you are seeking increased creative freedom in
pursuing the arts, science, challenges in the workplace, or your daily
living in general.
Objectives: 1. You will be able to
identify your specific inhibiting themes that arouse mind-body tension
associated with creative engagement. 2. You will gain skills in self-reflection regarding your thoughts, emotions, and physical states and how they interact. 3. You will gain increased self-awareness regarding your mind-body states. 4. You will be able to better identify factors that contribute to your mind-body states. 5.
You will be able to identify and learn strategies that can impact your
mind-body states so as to reduce tension that interferes with creative
commitment and engagement. 6. You will become more mindful of
factors that lead to procrastination or even withdrawal from creativity
and develop ways to reduce their impact. 7. You will learn about the role of self-compassion in creativity and how to practice it. 8. You will develop a repertoire of skills that can help you to live more authentically through your creative expression.
Format: I offer consultation in my office and by telephone. It is available in 1/2-hr and fifty-five minute sessions.
